Success Story

When vision therapy was recommended by our son’s 2nd grade teacher, my husband and I were a bit skeptical. His teach had concerns about his handwriting coordination and his ability to read books with no pictures and a lot of text. After first meeting with Dr. Charron, we realized that there were many other issues we were dealing with that could be attributed to the eye coordination. These included some clumsiness, eye fatigue, headaches, and dizziness. Homework was always a battle and felt like a chore.

We began to see results within the first 10 sessions of therapy which was very encouraging. After completing the entire program, we were amazed at the improvements to our son’s vision, coordination and overall happiness and quality of life. We would recommend vision therapy for any parents whose children are exhibiting signs of poor eye coordination or other symptoms that could be attributed to vision health.

Success Story

Wade had exotropia (both eyes turned out, one worse than the other though). Wade was seeing double before vision therapy. He said, “Mom, you have four eyes.” He would get frequent headaches and stabbing eye pain that made him grab his eye. He held books and computer games very close to his face to compensate for his weak eye.

Since doing vision therapy for 30 weeks, his reading has taken off because it is more enjoyable now and doesn’t cause headaches or eye pain with this close up work anymore. He doesn’t see double, unless he makes it happen on purpose.

Success Story

I used to feel completely dependent on my glasses. I have an extra pair for vacations because it would be an urgent situation if I had broken my glasses (it happened once and it ruined the trip for me). When I woke up in the morning I put on my glasses first thing. Now I no longer experience double vision in most experiences. I can go days without my glasses (though I still wear them at work always) and I can notice I forget to put on my glasses until late morning on the weekends. I still have presbyopia and astigmatism (I am in my 60’s) but the “prism defect” is significantly less, so I no longer see double.

Success Story

It all started when I realized that my daughter was throwing fits about going to school. Here I was a teacher, mother of two who could get her kids to do about anything but I was struggling every morning to get her out the door and to school on time. I could not figure out why my child did not want to go to school or why she did not like it. Kindergarten was a breeze. She enjoyed every minute of it. First grade was not going so well. I though maybe it was the teacher, her teaching style, or the kids in her class. We had a tough first grade year. Her teacher could not explain why she was not progressing and always avoiding reading anything in class. Second grade started on a better note. Then I got her progress report. SHOCK! She was not at standard in reading. How could that be? I received my masters in literacy and I read with my kids every day. After the shock wore off and the realization that my child was not enjoying reading at all, I pulled out all my tricks from my training in special education. Nothing worked and she continued to lose interest in reading and would do anything and everything to avoid it. I did not understand why this was happening. She was always a very well behave and calm child. What was happening?

One day in the hallways as I was telling out story about my daughter’s avoidance another teacher suggest eye therapy. I had never heard of it and ran home to look it up. Within minutes I realized that the descriptions and symptoms fit my daughter. I made an appointment immediately. After many months of therapy, which she enjoyed going to, she now loves reading and is working hard to reach 3rd grade standards. The fit throwing is no longer.

Success Story

Elizabeth was having a lot of trouble in school with reading, math, and copy the chalkboard. After her vision therapy, she is doing so much better. She reads on her own, can follow lines, copies from a chalkboard, and can write in a straight line. The improvement is very clear to see. She is more happy to go school. Things are not nearly as stressful for her. Homework is a lot easier and not a battle to do. We are very please with her results.

Success Story

I don’t get car sick anymore or headaches. I can actually feel a difference in my eyes. Thank you!

Before vision therapy, Katie had headaches from eye strain during school and reading and doing homework. After vision therapy, Katie no longer complains of eye fatigue or headaches from school, reading or homework. Another change is that Katie does not experience car sickness anymore.

Success Story

Before vision therapy, Olivia complained of not being able to see well in class. She would partially close her left eye in an effort to see better. Her left eye would turn inward slightly. It wasn’t that noticeable- she was always quite good with perception and played ball well. She had some difficulty reading books. Olivia preferred picture books over books with words.

After vision therapy, her reading has improved. She doesn’t complain about not being able to see in class. Her eyes don’t appear to wander. No change in behavior at home or school.

Success Story

Before vision therapy, I had headaches and migraines everyday. I avoided reading, I was really slow, it was difficult to get schoolwork done because reading was hard and took too long. I would fall asleep in less than 5 pages of reading because my eyes were tired and I would have a headache.

Now, after vision therapy, I seldom to never have headaches. I enjoy reading. I am able to stay awake reading and my reading speed increased. Now I can comprehend more of my reading. Vision therapy has truly helped make my life easier.

Success Story

I am a 68 year old woman with nearsighted vision that was discovered when I was in the 6th grade. In the past few years, I have also been experiencing double vision. I have used vision therapy in the past mostly by wearing less than 20/20 correction in my glasses.

This active week by week therapy is new and very successful. My prescription improved in only 6 weeks. My double vision is also better, so it’s easier to read books and do computer work. I am very excited to see yet more improvements. Dr. Charron and my vision therapist Virsaviya are dedicated, kind, and have created an excellent program. Now there is hope.

Success Story

William was struggling with reading and other homework. I heard someone was describing what problems their child was having and could tell that was what was going on with William. Since doing vision therapy, his reading and confidence has improved some. I get less frustrated trying to teach him and have learned some techniques that help him learn things. Everyone is so helpful and kind. Just learning about his problem helped in so many ways.

Success Story

Before vision therapy, my daughter was very social, confident and athletic but she struggled with reading. She always tested just below grade level which eventually started to really stack up. For a while, we were told by her pediatrician and another eye doctor that nothing was wrong; her eyesight was okay. It took us a some time to realize it was her vision – how her eyes work together that was the problem. When we found out, we were relieved it was just a vision problem and not dyslexia.

Since doing vision therapy, my daughter actually reads for pleasure at home without being asked. AMAZING!!! She is doing well in school, and her confidence continues to build. I feel like vision therapy has completely changed the course of her life. I don’t see how she could have handled the school work in high school and college. Now the sky is the limit!

Success Story

Prior to doing vision therapy, our son was very cautious in his movements. He had very little depth perception and always had to hold onto the railing when going down stairs. He couldn’t catch balls and had a really hard time following a moving target with his eyes. As a kindergartener, he had superb oral skills and thinking abilities but was very behind physically.

We have noticed many changes in our son since doing vision therapy. He now races up and down stairs. He is more confident in sports and can catch balls well now. He has less anxiety and fewer tantrums in difficult situations where there is a lot of stimuli. He is so much more confident with his body and his reading his advancing quickly.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

Success Story

Before vision therapy, my daughter struggled with letter reversal and tracking while reading to the point that the teacher was concerned with reading problems that had her falling behind in class. Since doing vision therapy, she is now ahead of grade level in reading and the teacher is seeing significantly less letter and number reversals.

Success Story

Prior to vision therapy, my son had difficulty concentrating and focusing on reading materials and comprehension. In sports, he seemed unsteady at times and frustrated with his performance despite motivation and effort.

Since doing vision therapy, we have noticed much more ease with reading speed and comprehension. Our son’s behavior has also changed; his confidence is improved, especially with reading and he has achieved more balance with athletics.

All the staff at the Northwest Vision Development Center were professional, kind and accommodating to our clinical and scheduling needs.

Success Story

Prior to vision therapy at Dr. Charron’s office, our son avoided sports and struggled with activities that involved written material. He was about a year behind with reading and writing. He was often frustrated and felt like he wasn’t keeping up with his peers.

He was evaluated by two eye care professionals who found him to have “perfect” vision. In addition, we also met with the learning specialist in our school district but at age six, we were told to wait and see what develops.

Since doing vision therapy at the Northwest Vision Development Center, our son is much happier! He is almost caught up in his schoolwork. His coordination has improved and he is willing to participate in ball games now. We also noticed his confidence is returning and he doesn’t feel inferior to his peers.
